Colombian composer and singer GUSI released his second album as a soloist – DESDE MI VENTANA – on May 15, 2020. This album fuses a number of Caribbean rhythms with pop, delivering fifteen songs that feel anywhere from traditional to modern.
The influence of vallenato is obvious throughout the release, featuring instruments like la caja, la guacharaca, and el acordeon. Two songs – “Indira” and “Por que razon” – include the participation of Carlos Vives.
My favorite track is “Party,” a collaboration with Goyo (ChocQuibtown). It’s an energetic song with hints of reggae, Afro-beat, R&B, and even hip hop. Watch the lyric video posted below. You may even learn quite a few sentences in several languages!
The lyrics are all GUSI’s. Additional guests participating in the album include Gian Marco, Yera, Greeicy, and Mike Bahia.
DESDE MI VENTANA can now be streamed from most digital platforms. A few of the songs have also been added to the VidaSalsera.com playlist on Spotify, which you can access from the right margin (or at the bottom) of this page.
