New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest 2024 to spotlight Colombia’s music and culture

Exciting news for salsa music lovers! The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is coming back, promising an unforgettable experience over two weekends – April 25 to 28 and May 2 to 5. This year’s lineup is set to be spectacular, featuring the iconic Rolling Stones as headliners, and, even more important to us, the vibrant musical and cultural heritage of Colombia.

Seventeen Colombian bands are gearing up to captivate audiences from April 25 to May 5, spreading infectious beats across various stages and at the Expedia Cultural Exchange Pavilion. Headliners at this Pavilion will include Grupo Niche and electro-roots sensation Bomba Estéreo, with more enchanting performances to follow.

Prepare to be mesmerized by the traditional sounds of the Pacific coast with Rancho Aparte and Agrupacíon Changó, showcasing the captivating chirimia and marimba melodies. Grammy-nominated Cimarrón will take you on a soul-stirring journey with their joropo music from Colombia’s eastern plains.

The lineup doesn’t stop there – expect explosive “breaksalsa” from La Mambanegra, classic cumbia from Los Cumbia Stars, and a special appearance by Goyo, lead singer of the energetic hiphop band ChoQuibTown, joining forces with the local techno drum band ÍFÉ.

Daily parades infused with the joyous spirit of the Colombian carnival will guide you to the newly revamped Cultural Exchange Village. There, you can immerse yourself in the music while indulging in delicious Colombian fare and sipping specialty drinks under shaded canopies.

Adjacent to the Pavilion, the Cultural Exchange Demonstration Tent will showcase eighteen master artisans, bringing unique creations from all corners of Colombia. From the iconic Wayuu weavers’ mochilla to Kamtsä wooden masks from Putumayo, beaded jewelry and basketry from the Amazon, carnival costumes from Pasto, and handmade violins and marimbas from the Colombian Pacific coast – it’ll be a treasure trove of Colombian craftsmanship!

Get ready to be swept away by the vibrant rhythms, rich culture, and unmatched energy of Colombia at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2024. It’s a musical journey you won’t want to miss!
