Salsa from New Orleans – Conjunto Tierra Linda unveils its eponymous album

The vibrant and culturally rich city of New Orleans is known for its musical heritage, and amidst this musical tapestry, Conjunto Tierra Linda stands out as a shining example of the city’s diversity. A collective of musicians hailing from diverse U.S., Caribbean, and Latin-American origins, the group is launching their eponymous album this weekend – an auditory feast that spans a spectrum of tropical genres.

The mosaic of musical traditions

Leading the ensemble is the talented bassist, singer, and arranger, Gabriel Case. Growing up with a Mexican stepfather, Case was exposed to an array of musical traditions in the San Francisco Bay area – from the infectious rhythms of Puerto Rican Bomba y Plena to the soul-stirring melodies of Mexican Mariachi. His musical mentors enlightened him about the origins of the genre we now know as Salsa, which, he soon realized, is an exquisite blend of various folk styles from the Caribbean with which he soon fell in love and decided to master.

The eponymous album: A musical gift

Conjunto Tierra Linda’s eponymous album features ten tracks, striking a balance between five original compositions and five classics that have been given fresh, vibrant arrangements.

Their rendition of “Todos Vuelven,” originally composed as a vals by Peruvian composer Cesar Miro, is a prime example of Case’s musical prowess. The group performed it last night at the 3rd Mobile Latin Fest (Alabama), to the enchantment of the audience.
